The article analyzes the mechanisms of the emergence of agricultural associations in the territory of Ukraine, the processes of their transformation from the 19th to the early 20th century, legislative initiatives (including the documentary base) that evidenced the government's interest in the existence of such associations of agricultural producers and agrarian scientists.

Conclusions were drawn that the emergence of the first agricultural associations was driven by the need to address organizational issues in agronomy and disseminate sector-specific knowledge among farmers. Subsequently, there was a need to address broader production-related issues. The initial centers of agronomic direction emerged with the support, including financial support, of large landowners. Only from the late 19th century onwards did the state become involved in this matter through legislative regulation, which subsequently contributed to the effective construction and development of sectoral research. The functioning of many agricultural associations (alongside Zemstvos) became a true phenomenon of sectoral research and the agricultural sector as a whole. These centers became the foundation of domestic agricultural science, sectoral research, production of environmentally friendly agricultural products, the initiation of entrepreneurship, the improvement of agricultural machinery, and the adoption of progressive forms of management, among others. Large associations transformed into centers for agronomic research. It has been proven that sectoral associations, precisely due to state stimulation of the processes of their establishment, assistance in organizing work, financing the work of agricultural personnel and various agronomic events (exhibitions, competitions, courses, and lectures), issuance of credits, etc., significantly expanded their own network in the territories of Ukraine throughout the early 20th century.
