The purpose of the article is to highlight the influence of prominent personalities of the Department of Agricultural Machinery and System Engineering named after Academician P. M. Vasylenko of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine on the development of agricultural (agricultural) mechanics, agricultural engineering, testing of agricultural machinery and improving the quality of the educational process. Research methods: general scientific – analysis, synthesis, classification; special historical – problematic and chronological, comparative, source study and others. Particular attention was paid to the biographical method, which served as a means of reconstructing the biographies of scientists who made a significant contribution to the development of agricultural (agricultural) mechanics, agricultural engineering, testing of agricultural machinery and training of engineering personnel.

The achievements of the outstanding personalities of the Department of Agricultural Machinery and System Engineering named after Academician P. Vasylenko are summarized: Ordinary Professor K. G. Shyndler, founder of the first European Testing Station for Agricultural Machinery and Implements; Corresponding Member of the Ukrainian SSR L. P. Kramarenko. Kramarenko – a specialist in the field of agricultural engineering; Professor P. F. Vovk – a well-known scientist in the field of agricultural engineering and machine research, a public figure; Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR A. O. Vasylenko – the founder of the Laboratory and Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Agricultural Mechanics; Academician of VASGNIL O. N. Karpenko – a researcher and publisher of educational literature; Academician of VASGNIL, UAAS, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine P. M. Vasylenko, a well-known scientist in the fields of agricultural mechanics, mechanization and automation of agricultural production in Ukraine; and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine D. G. Voitiuk, a developer of precision farming technologies. Their contribution to the training of scientific and engineering personnel, publication of scientific, educational and methodological literature for scientists, specialists and students of higher educational institutions is highlighted. It is proved that the outstanding personalities of the department are well-known scientists not only in Ukraine but also abroad, whose scientific achievements serve the development of agricultural mechanics, agricultural engineering and methods of testing agricultural machinery.
