The article is about life and creative way of the graduate of the Uman School of Agriculture and Horticulture (now the Uman National University of Horticulture) Mykola Fedorovych Ljubochka and his contribution to the development of national agricultural science. The aim of the work was to search for literary sources and archival materials in the University History Museum funds that would illustrate his professional qualities in the field of horticulture and the value of his scientific work. It was used the historical and scientific method.

The research results show that Professor Ljubochka's activities as the organizer, teacher and head of educational institutions were multifaceted. Mykola Fedorovych made a significant contribution to the establishment and development of the Uman Agricultural Institute. During his teaching and administrative activity Ljubochka manifested himself as the talented organizer, scientist and outstanding teacher. He initiated the introduction of the most advanced developments in the educational process. During his career, his interests were focused on different but related natural sciences of agriculture: soil science and horticulture. He spread agricultural knowledge among the population and was appreciated as the impeccable specialist in horticulture. Mykola Fedorovych conducted pomological surveys and based on those results assessed the state of horticulture and gardening in Ukraine and Moldova.

These materials were collected and summarized as a result of historical exploration. In fact, it is the first time when information about Professor Ljubochka's pedagogical and scientific achievements has been published.
