Summary

The purpose of the article is to research the scientific and pedagogical activities and assets of the scientist in the sphere of entomology and ecology, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Pysarenko Viktor Mykytovych. The source base is materials about the activity of the scientist, as well as his scientific works. V. M. Pysarenko has been working in the field of agricultural science for 52 years. He carried out in-depth entomological research, the results of which became a reliable basis for the development of the ecological foundations of the winter wheat and corn protection system under conditions of intensification and concentration of production based on the application of zonal scientifically based farming systems. He carefully studied the bioecology and various aspects of the harmfulness of wheat thrips Haplothrips tritici Kurd. He noted the ambiguous influence of environmental factors created by the intensification of agriculture on the dynamics of the number of harmful insects in the Steppe Zone of Ukraine. He pointed out the phytosanitary role of agrotechnical measures in reducing crop failures due to pests. He studied a new assortment and promising methods of using insecticides on winter wheat and corn, which served as the basis for a significant expansion of the idea of the possibilities of an ecological approach to the chemical protection of grain crops. On the basis of a systematic analysis of the agroecological impact of the complex of organizational, economic and technological methods in the system of organic farming, he identified the main ecological factors that ensure a satisfactory phytosanitary situation of cultivated crops. V. M. Pysarenko made a significant contribution to the development of ecologically sound systems for protecting plants from pests, diseases and weeds, and theoretically substantiated the system of organic farming.

V. M. Pysarenko is the author of more than 300 published scientific works. He created a scientific school, training 1 doctor and 19 candidates of science.
