The purpose of the research paper is to supplement information about the scientific and information support of domestic agriculture through the prism of its global development, at the end of the ХІХ th – beginning of the ХХ th century. It was established that the decline of the industry was associated with shortcomings in the general organization of experimental work and agronomic assistance to the population. It was found that specialists from research institutions spent most of their time conducting field experiments, mostly detached from the real needs of peasants. Scientific research in developed countries had a practical orientation and took into account the needs of the population. Industry experts paid considerable attention to disseminating the results of their activities to everyone, including through the release of reports. Domestic specialists from research institutions, without sufficient personnel and financial support, did not show interest in disseminating knowledge. At the beginning of the ХХ th century. One of the driving forces behind the development of agriculture was progress in mechanical engineering. In Ukraine, the widespread use of mechanization was prevented by the impoverishment of peasants. Educational institutions, where mainly the children of wealthy landowners had the opportunity to study, were important for the dissemination of agricultural knowledge. However, the curriculum did not devote enough time to practical training for students. In the overwhelming majority of educational processes, much attention was paid to the study of the theoretical foundations of agriculture. Abroad, in educational institutions, special attention was paid to practical training of students, including work with mechanization equipment. As a result, graduates immediately after graduation could independently work on farms.
