The aim of the article is to clarify the thematic content of Academician O. Sozinov's (1930–2018) activities on the pages of Ukrainian periodicals of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.

The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, objectivity and source study methods, in particular the method of internal criticism of sources. Methods of comparison of different publications of periodicals were used. In addition, the analysis of information from publications and the synthesis of logical references and conclusions, as well as the generalization of the facts presented in the publications and the systematization of descriptions of events from the biography of O. Sozinov's were used.

Periodicals are an extremely valuable source for researching the scientific and educational space of Ukraine and the life of a scientist. It has been established that most of the author's publications on the pages of periodicals were about O. Sozinov's, where a number of well-known scientists in Ukraine and in the world (G. Polikarpov, N. Tereshchenko, V. Kyrychenko, V. Shevelukha, G. Gulyaev, S. Biryukov, V. Kunakh, K. Sytnyk and others) noted him as the brightest figure in science and emphasized his contribution to the development of genetics, breeding. biotechnology, agroecology. Some of the works are dedicated to the anniversaries of the scientist. It was found that O. Sozinov's was active and versatile in his editorial activities. He was an editor and a member of the editorial board of well-known domestic and foreign journals on genetics, breeding, biotechnology, general crop production, and seed production. We consider the scientific materials and notes of the scientist himself, devoted to the problems of modern general and molecular genetics, selection and evolution of plants and animals, etc., to be valuable. It is established that the scientific interests of O. Sozinov's, at the end of the twentieth century. focused on the study of the problem of agroecology development and, in particular, the problems of the formation of the mega-agroecosystem of Ukraine in the XX-XXI centuries.
