Summary

The article reveals Yurii Lypa’s place in the socio-historical and cultural-artistic life and national progress of the Ukrainian people in the first half of the 20th century. The purpose of this investigation is to draw attention to the figure of the author, understand his worldview position in the formation of national identity and values, and determine the relevance of his work for modern literary and cultural reality.

Yurii Lypa is a public figure, a nationalist – ideologist, a geopolitician, a medical scientist, a writer, a translator, a literary critic, a true patriot who channeled his abilities, efforts, and versatile talents in the direction of serving the national idea. He was one of the first Ukrainian ideologists who believed that the European path of development was the only possible one for Ukraine. His name stands next to the names of such political figures as D. Dontsov, M. Mikhnovsky, S. Bandera.

Yurii Lypa belonged to the emigration generation of «tragic optimists». In the period of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921, the liberation struggles of the interwar twenty years and the Second World War, in an extremely unfavorable emigration environment, his extraordinary hard work was impressive. This is evidenced by the artist's extensive creative work, which has become a national treasure. One of his main ideas was the thesis about the «revival» of literature, culture, the nation, and the state.

Historical, chronological, biographical and comparative methods were used in the research.
