The article examines the life and activities of the Symyrenko dynasty, as well as their role in the development of entrepreneurship on the Right Bank of Ukraine. It was a family of successful sugar entrepreneurs, owners of machine–building plants, scientists and gardening practitioners, who came from the serfdom. The article analyzes the family's contribution to the industrialization of agricultural production in Ukraine, as the Symyrenkos built a steam sand refinery for processing beets. The importance of the Yakhnenko–Symyrenko firm as the founder of the national shipping and machine building industry is emphasized, as their unique equipment later played a significant role in the development of Ukrainian industry. The article also highlights the fact that the firm built and operated the Ukrainian and Svyatoslav steamers on the Dnipro River, which were the first in the Russian Empire, and the plants of local entrepreneurs were characterized by a democratic approach to work. Another important aspect was the construction of an industrial town for workers, where each family owned a house and there were a hospital, library, shops, free schools, and a theater. Attention is drawn to the charitable and patronage activities of the Symyrenko dynasty, in particular, financing the publication of Kobzar and supporting writers and scholars. The family helped historian Mykhailo Hrushevsky, composer Mykola Lysenko, writer Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky, and others. The publication emphasizes Levko Symyrenko's contribution to the comprehensive study of fruit and berry varieties, to the substantiation of biological and economic factors of their selection for industrial gardens. He is considered the founder of pomology. The article also highlights Volodymyr Symyrenko's activities in restoring gardens, founding and publishing the first Ukrainian–language scientific collections on horticulture and viticulture. Author reveals the tragic fate of the famous Symyrenko family, destroyed by the Bolshevik system.
