The aim of the article is to evaluate the activities of academicians O. Sozinov and A. Babych on soybean breeding.

The study of the scientific heritage of scientists O. Sozinov and А. Babych is a value guideline for understanding the various stages of the formation of multidisciplinary scientists, understanding the relevance of their historical role as scientists and organizers of agricultural research. The organic combination of the worldview of scientists through scientific achievements in the field of soybean breeding is clarified. It was found that scientists were the initiators and founders of scientific laboratories, where, together with young researchers, they created and introduced new varieties into production, developed varietal cultivation technology adapted to the conditions of the regions.

The experience of scientists' developments and the introduction of soybean varieties into production is generalized. The scientific cooperation of scientists with international research institutions, with which there was an effective exchange of methods, breeding material, ideas, etc., was noted. The priority and practical significance of the unique scientific fundamental and applied research of outstanding scientists O. O. Sozinov and A. O. Babych, which laid the foundation for improving the efficiency of soybean breeding and the evolution of this direction, are substantiated.
