The article examines the process of formation of the Agricultural School in Dublyany as an educational and scientific centre in 1856-1876, from the moment of its establishment to the granting of higher education status. The main attention is paid to the analysis of the financial and human resources potential of the educational institution. The role of scientific and pedagogical staff in ensuring the educational process and the establishment of the institution as an important centre of agricultural education and science not only in Galicia but also in Austria-Hungary as a whole is noted.

The methodological basis of the study is based on the principles of historicism and objectivity in covering past events, which are based on the application of the historical and scientific method, methods of analysis and generalisation. It was important to use the following methods: general scientific, interdisciplinary, problematic and chronological, comparative and historical.

As a result of the study, the stages of formation of the Agricultural School in Dublyany were traced. The activities of this educational institution contributed to increasing the efficiency of agricultural work. The scientific achievements of the teachers of the institution brought to a qualitatively new level the methodological support of such aspects of agricultural research as agricultural mechanics, seed production, and animal husbandry.

The assessment of the state, role, and principles of the Agricultural School is closely interconnected with the overall multicultural development of the Austro-Hungarian education system in general and the crown land of Galicia and Volodymyr in particular. The basis of the institution's regulatory support was the empire's education legislation, decisions of the Galician Agricultural Society, and acts of the Provincial Sejm and the Galician Provincial Government.

It is argued that the Agricultural School laid the foundation for the development of agricultural education and science not only in Galicia but also in Austria-Hungary as a whole, forming the basis for the further evolution of a powerful scientific and educational centre in Dublyany.
