Summary

Important for scientists and the general public are materials relating to the pages of the history of the National Historical and Ethnographic Reserve «Pereyaslav» and its long-time head, general director, Hero of Ukraine Mykhailo Ivanovich Sikorsky (1924–2011). Of particular value are the memories of people who worked with him in the reserve, went on ethnographic expeditions, collected towels and other objects of folk material culture, created museum exhibits, and formed collections. We are talking about Honored Worker of Culture Hanna Ivanovna Koziy, Head of the Museum of the Classic of Jewish Literature Sholem Aleichem Nina Aleksandrivna Zakharchuk, Director of the Pereyaslavl Art School named after Peter Kholodny Iryna Vyacheslavivna Kuzmitska, and Volodymyr Fedorovych Volovik, who worked in the team of carpenters-restorers of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnieper Region.

In order for the reader to learn more about the personality of M. I. Sikorsky, his attitude to folk art, and his vision for creating museum expositions, we present a presentation of commemorative materials from the above-mentioned people. G. Koziy describes in particular detail the attitude of the reserve's general director to towels and their use in expositions. I. Kuzmitska's memories of another museum figure who worked with M. Sikorsky – O. Yuzvikova – are also interesting. It was she, as the head of the funds, who accepted towels for the fund collection and, as Iryna Vyacheslavivna recalls, was involved in painting houses in the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Dnieper Region, etc. Interesting facts are mentioned in their memoirs by V. Volovyk and N. Zakharchuk. The latter, in particular, tells a rather interesting episode from expeditionary activities.

It has been established that the employees of the institution carried out expeditions to various regions of Ukraine, but primarily these are Kyiv, Cherkasy and Poltava. The materials are published in the author's editorial office.
