The article examines the multifaceted contribution of agricultural scientists to the formation of the depository fund of the National Scientific Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (NSAL of NAAS) by transferring their own book collections. In particular, the significance of these collections as an important element of scientific and cultural heritage, reflecting the evolution of agricultural science and contributing to the preservation of scientific achievements for future generations, is analyzed.

Special attention in the study is paid to individual collections of prominent representatives of agricultural science. Thus, the collection of Professor A. M. Zhadan, former rector of the National Agrarian University, covers a wide range of scientific publications on animal husbandry. The collection of O. P. Kanevsky is entirely devoted to the cultivation of sugar beet, while the collection of Z. G. Lavytska is of unique value due to the presence of rare 19th century publications on mycology. These collections are not only sources of valuable scientific information, but also evidence of the intellectual life of a certain historical era.

In the process of research, a complex of methods of scientific knowledge was applied, in particular problem-chronological, comparative-historical, retrospective and historiographical analysis, which made it possible to comprehensively characterize the role and place of gift book collections transferred by prominent agricultural scientists in the formation of the depository fund National Scientific Agricultural Library of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Thanks to the use of these research methods, it was possible to trace the genesis of these collections, identify their scientific and historical and cultural value, and determine their influence on the formation of the library as an important center of agricultural science and institutional memory.

In conclusion, it is emphasized that the significance of each library is largely determined by its funds, and therefore the role of gift book collections in forming the scientific potential and historical and cultural identity of the National Library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences is invaluable.

In modern conditions marked by social and political challenges, the preservation of rare collections of agricultural subjects takes on particular importance as a contribution to national memory and the continuity of scientific knowledge.
