The article explores the topical issue of agricultural terrorism, exemplified by the current situation in Ukraine. Our nation found itself in the midst of historic turmoil, with the clash of civilizations as one of its megatrends. The decaying Russian civilization, trying to slow down its degradation, has resorted to its traditional – military – method. It is not the first time when the Russian power, aware of its feebleness, tried to cover it up and justify itself by starting «a splendid little war». Besides, the very existence of the Russian empire, whatever the name, is impossible without Ukraine. The hybrid war, waged against Ukraine for many years, has erupted into open armed aggression in 2022. Terrorism holds an important place in Moscow’s arsenal, including agricultural terrorism.

Analysis of historiography to date showed insufficient coverage of this issue, mainly, through defining it chiefly by use of biological agents against plant and animal farming, despite the need in a broader view. Therefore, it is suggested to define agricultural terrorism as terrorism against agriculture.

Survey revealed complete absence of publications concerning Russian terrorism against Ukraine’s agrosphere. The article shows examples of such practices and their consequences for the national security of Ukraine, as well as for the food safety of other countries, especially those whose population survival depends largely on foreign imports of agricultural produce. Exposed are the methods of the Russian party that seeks not just to harm Ukraine, but also to solve its own problems by way of agro-terrorism. Moscow’s actions have brought about the juncture of several global threats, particularly, the problems of war and peace, poverty, food, ecology and terrorism. It is worth quoting Barack Obama who’s reckoned Russia as a global threat.
