Summary

The purpose of the article is to identify dissertation studies conducted within the philological scholarly field in which memoirs constitute the object of specialized analysis; to determine the main methodological approaches, to distinguish leading and auxiliary research strategies, thematic directions, and quantitative characteristics of these works. The research methodology is based on the interdisciplinary dimension of memoir studies, which has determined the use of a range of methods and approaches, including historical-literary, cultural, comparative, biographical, genre-typological, linguistic, and discursive approaches. This has made it possible to comprehensively assess the specificity of philological approaches to the study of memoirs in dissertation research. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that, for the first time, the theoretical and methodological foundations of dissertations defended in philological specialties have been systematically identified, with the differentiation of primary and auxiliary methodological frameworks, as well as an analysis of the thematic scope and quantitative indicators. The study highlights the growing interest in memoir studies and the expansion of the scholarly community engaged in this genre, particularly within literary and linguistic research, along with a clear tendency toward interdisciplinarity. The main academic specialties in which dissertations have been defended are identified. In studies conducted within specialties 10.01.05–10.01.06, theoretical and comparative literary approaches prevail, where memoirs are interpreted as a genre-based and cultural-historical phenomenon. Within specialties 10.01.01–10.01.04, historical-literary, cultural, and biographical approaches dominate, allowing memoirs to be examined as sources for reconstructing authorial identities and sociocultural contexts. In linguistic research (10.02.01–10.02.02), memoirs are analyzed through the concepts of linguistic personality, linguistic worldview, subjectivity, evaluation, expressiveness, and idiolect, and are viewed as a space of linguistic self-representation.
