This article examines the transformation of Ukraine’s military field medicine in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war. The aim of the article is to systematize current knowledge in the field of military field medicine, analyze the effectiveness of existing tactical medicine protocols in accordance with NATO standards, and identify promising directions for its development in light of contemporary challenges.

The evolution of the medical support system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the start of the 2014 anti-terrorist operation to Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 is examined. Key innovations in the development of military field medicine were analyzed: the implementation of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) standards, the development of the medical evacuation system, the institutionalization of combat medic training, the implementation of mass blood transfusion protocols, and the development of underground medical infrastructure. Particular attention is paid to adaptation to large-scale combat operations (LSCO), where traditional NATO standards proved insufficient. The achievements of military field medicine are identified: the creation of a network of stabilization points, the implementation of the MARCH-PAWS algorithm, the development of telemedicine, and international integration. The challenges facing military medicine were identified: the vulnerability of medical evacuation via drones, blood shortages at the front lines, and the need to develop prolonged field care. Promising areas of development were proposed: autonomous ground evacuation drones, improving the training of Junior Combat Medics, and expanding the capabilities of damage control resuscitation.
