Summary

The aim of the article is researching the history of the forged church gate at the beginning of the 20th century, analyzing the technical methods of production, its artistic and aesthetic features, representation the features of preserving the monument of blacksmith craft and exhibiting it at the territory of the church yard of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Naddniprianshchyna in the National Historical Ethnographic reserve «Pereyaslav».

To reveal the topic, general scientific methods of searching, analysis and synthesis were used. It provided an opportunity to outline the living environment of the researched monument, to consider the peculiarities of the blacksmith craft, artistic and aesthetic preferences of the craftsmen blacksmiths of that time.

It is noted that in the authentic environment the church gate was a part of the complex of the courtyard of Ioano-Theological Church. It was built in 1832 in the village Karabchyiv, Skvyrsk district, Kyiv province. At the beginning of the 20th century the church yard was fenced with a wall and a church gate was installed at the central entrance. The church was closed during the ruling of the atheist government. Until the 90s of the 20th century the building was used by the collective farm as a granary.

It was established that in 1984 the church gate was moved to the territory of the Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of the Middle Naddniprianshchyna. It is noted that the forged gate in the exposition of the church yard is a source of information not only about the history of the development of the spiritual life of society, but also provides important information about the peculiarities of the blacksmith craft, artistic and aesthetic preferences of the craftsmen blacksmiths of that time. It was determined that the most optimal form of preservation and way of using the monument is its exhibition on the territory of the Museum.
