Summary

The article analyzes the formation and current state of the concept of the «biographical project» in the Ukrainian and international humanities space. Historiography demonstrates the absence of a unified interpretation of this term, which ranges from the psychological notion of «self-projection» to the pedagogical concept of a «biography research project». The most productive approach for generalization defines the biographical project as a cultural, scholarly, and digital initiative aimed at the systematic dissemination of biographical knowledge and the engagement of audiences in reflecting on intellectual heritage. An analysis of a wide range of traditional and innovative practices allowed the identification of key characteristics of this phenomenon – duration, repetitiveness, stability of format, and accumulation of results that form sustainable communicative environments around prominent figures.

The study characterizes various types of biographical projects, including memorial conferences, literary and artistic competitions, and thematic festivals, which form research communities, produce new interpretations, and enrich the biographical narrative. Special attention is given to innovative digital formats – online platforms, interactive maps, audiovisual, and media projects – which ensure broad accessibility of materials and attract new audiences. It is shown that traditional and innovative resources complement each other, combining the depth of academic research with the communicative dynamics of the digital environment.

In general, a biographical project is defined as a long-term cultural, scholarly, or memorial initiative aimed at studying, popularizing, and actualizing the life and ideas of an individual or a group of people. The article demonstrates that such projects are an important mechanism for forming collective memory, maintaining historical continuity, and constructing contemporary interpretations of national heritage.
