| Summary |

The historical origins of grid infrastructure in Ukraine are analyzed. The evolution of ideas related to the development of telecommunication networks and distributed computing systems in Ukraine is presented. It is emphasized that such a system was first proposed by the scientific school of Academician V. M. Glushkov. The projects of the State Network of Computing Centers (DMOC) and the Nationwide Automated Management System (ZDAS) laid the foundation for future models of information infrastructures, which were ahead of their time in content and became prototypes of modern global networks and grid systems. Three stages of grid infrastructure development in the 2000s are identified. The first stage is directly connected with the participation of Ukrainian scientists in international initiatives, in particular CERN, EGEE, and EGI. At that time, the first clusters of computing resources were created on the basis of leading universities and institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. This made it possible to integrate domestic computing nodes into the European infrastructure, providing Ukrainian scientists with access to world-class experiments and data. At the second stage, a national grid platform was formed, a grid portal was created, additional nodes were connected, and new clusters were deployed. Participation in international projects such as CERN and the LHC contributed to Ukraine’s integration into the European scientific space, enhanced the level of international cooperation, and consolidated the practical benefits of grid infrastructure development for both fundamental and applied research. The third stage is still ongoing and is characterized by a shift in the development vector towards hybrid models that combine grid technologies, cloud services, and HPC solutions. Ukrainian universities and research centers are actively joining international platforms, using grid infrastructure for tasks in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, climate studies, and physics research. Meanwhile, a new educational paradigm – the Learning Grid – is taking shape worldwide, opening access for students to powerful resources in the environment of distance and blended learning. Innovative scenarios of technology application in education are presented, and the main challenges faced by the development of grid infrastructure in Ukraine are analyzed.
