The purpose of the article is to study the preparation, conduct and results of the 3rd Poltava Provincial Agricultural Exhibition of 1863. The research methodology is based on a combination of such methods as problem-chronological, comparative-historical, retrospective and the method of system analysis, the complex application of which allowed obtaining unbiased conclusions. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that for the first time the preparatory and initial stages of the Poltava Provincial Agricultural Exhibition have been analyzed). Based on the presented sources, it was found that the Poltava Provincial Exhibition of 1863 was an important event in the economic and socio-cultural reality of the region in the studied period, as well as the most resonant and mass event for the presentation of achievements in the agricultural and industrial sectors of the province. This is evidenced, in particular, by the fact that a committee was assembled to organize and manage the exhibition under the personal chairmanship of the Poltava governor, and a corresponding member of the Imperial Free Economic Society was invited to organize the event. Such exhibitions occupied an important place in the economic and cultural life of Dnieper Ukraine.

This report conveys the idea that the history of agricultural exhibitions in Ukraine needs to be studied in detail. Exhibition activity was and is a multifunctional phenomenon that contributes to the development of domestic and foreign trade, strengthening international ties, promoting technologies and new types of products, goods and services, activates financial flows, forms an information environment that reflects the state and trends in the development of industries and commodity markets. The importance of exhibition activity, as one of the dynamic areas of agriculture, is difficult to overestimate.
