The electronic scholarly professional journal «History of Science and Biographical Studies» adheres to the «Recommendations on the Use of AI in Scholarly Communication» developed by the European Association of Science Editors, as well as to the guidelines of leading scientometric databases (see: https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies-and-standards/generative-ai-policies-for-journals).
The editorial board of the journal considers AI as a tool that can enhance the efficiency of scientific work; however, all results obtained with its assistance must be carefully verified.
The editorial board expects authors to voluntarily declare the use of AI in the preparation of their materials. When submitting a manuscript, it is mandatory to upload a separate file titled «Author’s Declaration on the Use of AI», in which the author specifies the purpose and manner of AI usage (it is recommended to complete the GAIDeT Declaration (Generative AI Delegation Taxonomy) available at: https://panbibliotekar.github.io/gaidet-declaration/index-uk.html). The declaration must be submitted together with the manuscript.
If illustrations, diagrams, maps, or graphs were created or modified using AI, this must be indicated in the caption, specifying the tool and the nature of its use.
In the text of the article (within the structural section «Research Methods»), authors should state: «During the preparation of this manuscript, the AI tool [name, version] was used for [task]. The authors confirm the accuracy and verification of all presented data and conclusions».
The editorial board does not encourage the use of AI for the peer review process; however, it cannot guarantee that reviewers do not use AI.
